The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the area of marginal risk for severe weather to include all of New Jersey, New York City & the Hudson Valley, most of Eastern Pennsylvania southward into Maryland and Eastern Virginia. The primary threat from these thunderstorms is very heavy rain on the order of several inches since the storms are very slow moving.
Regional radar below shows an expanding area of downpours and thunderstorms moving to the east and they should move into Long Island and Connecticut as well. This at least continues to cut the rainfall deficit in drought stricken areas.
