Father’s Day Weekend of Sunshine
Reasonable Temperatures & Humidity
It is the Father’s Day weekend and you probably couldn’t get better weather this time of year. Humidity levels continue to drop as dew points will be mostly in the upper 40s lower 50s. Satellite loops show mainly clear skies across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England this morning. We do have clouds rotating around low pressure in Eastern Canada. Instability showers are possible well north in Upstate New York and New England. For Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England skies today should be no worse than partly sunny with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s. Most lows tonight will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s under mainly clear skies.
SATELLITE WITH LIGHTNING STRIKES
WEATHER RADAR
Sunday is looking quite nice. We will have the core of the dry air mass overhead and dew points will be in the comfortable lower 50s. Sky wise we should see mainly sunny conditions with just a few passing clouds from time to time. Father’s Day highs will reach the low and middle 80s across the region and radars will be nice and quiet all day. If you are beach bound, local sea breezes could develop later in the day.
The westerly flow aloft being driven by the jet stream pattern in Canada continues to be the dominant player so weather systems move in and out every couple of days. This keeps hot humid weather at a minimum to a day or so. Monday we will see dew points shoot back into toward 70 as a warm front approaches from the southwest Monday morning followed by a cold front moving through Monday evening.
Expect clouds to increase during Sunday night and some showers or perhaps even a rumble or two of thunder will pass through Monday morning as the warm front goes by. That will be followed by a cold front later in the day with some downpours and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. Most temperatures Monday will be in the 80s but with the high dew points around 70, it will be very uncomfortable.
We will likely have to wait until Tuesday morning for weather conditions to genuinely improve. The next shot of drier air comes in for a day or two so look for some sunshine developing Tuesday with lower humidity. Highs will reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. Humidity levels will not drop to very low levels like we have seen recently however it should be reasonably comfortable especially Tuesday night and Wednesday. Wednesday looks to be a sunny warm day with highs in the low to mid 80s. More showers are possible late week as the next weather front approaches for Thursday and Friday.
