Hot & Very Humid Severe Thunderstorm Risk Today & Friday Ahead of Hot But Dry Weekend
The humidity came rushing in yesterday and today we add the heat to the equation. We also see on satellite loops a parade of short waves and weather fronts moving eastward from the Midwest. Another one is going to arrive late this afternoon setting off some thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating the risk for severe thunderstorms today across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. The issue from these storms likely will be the possibility of strong winds as storms arrive and pass through.
Ahead of this is of course a steam bath of a day with sunshine taking highs up into the low and middle 90s everywhere. Some stations with small data sets could reach record highs this afternoon. Thunderstorm risk likely occurs between 4pm and 8pm and we will need to watch and see where the thunderstorms set up in Pennsylvania. I would imagine that there is a possibility of severe thunderstorm watches going up for somebody in the region later today.

WEATHER RADAR
Once the thunderstorms play it will be very warm and humid overnight with most lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Friday is going to be another steam bath of a day with plenty of sunshine, high humidity, and highs again reaching the low and middle 90s.Temperatures both today and Friday should be a little cooler at the shore as local sea breezes develop during the late morning and early afternoon hours.
A rather strong short wave trough today is going to be bringing the Upper Midwest another round of widespread thunderstorms and relatively high tornado risk. This stronger system and cold front will approach late Friday afternoon and evening and it will set off thunderstorms with severe weather risk. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a large area of severe weather risk from New England to the Carolinas and that of course includes everyone in Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England.
The weather front that passes Friday will bring in a slightly less humid air mass for Saturday and Sunday and you will notice the difference in the humidity. However the change in temperature will only be slightly lower with highs both Saturday and Sunday in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Saturday and the daytime Sunday will feature Sunday. However we have another cold front and another round of thunderstorms late Sunday afternoon and evening. This is ahead of a much cooler and much drier weather pattern that will settle in for the first part of next week.
