Showers Thunderstorms Around Saturday & Again Later Sunday Into Early Monday

We are in a weekend and we will see varying conditions ranging from cloudy skies to some breaks of sunshine to some shower and thunderstorm chances. It won’t be raining much of the time today or tomorrow but when it does, some of the rain will be heavy. We have a stalled frontal boundary overhead today so we will describe this Saturday as a cloudy to partly sunny type of day but clouds are likely to dominate. Some showers will develop midday and on and off through the afternoon and tonight. Highs will be mostly in the 70s today as clouds and a bit of an onshore flow limits daytime heating.

Severe weather risks today and Sunday have shifted southward into the Middle Atlantic states. We have a series of waves of low pressure moving eastward out of the Plains over the next few days. After the weather system for this afternoon and tonight plays through we get a bit of a break, followed by another system later Sunday and Sunday night.

Once that system plays through there will be a short break Monday, though there is the chance for a shower or thunderstorm late in the day. Another weather system follows Tuesday with mid and late day showers and thunderstorms before some genuine improvement settles in Wednesday. Meanwhile as far as tonight goes we will have lows in the upper 50s to mid 60s and Sunday highs will be mostly in the low to middle 70s.

The risk for showers Monday and Tuesday means that both days will see temperatures limited to highs in the low to mid 70s. However Wednesday of next week with more in the way of sunshine, less in the way of clouds, and no showers in the forecast, highs are likely to reach back into the 80s in most places except perhaps along the coast where local sea breezes will take hold during afternoon and evening hours.
