Severe Weather Risk As Warm Front Passes & Cold Front Approaches Drier Into Midweek
The work week begins with the next warm front cold front combination working its way eastward from the Ohio Valley. Humidity levels will go up as dew points rise. Ahead of the cold front we have some rain moving through this morning and then as the cold front approaches this afternoon we have the risk of thunderstorms and severe weather. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a slight risk or a 15 percent chance for severe thunderstorms developing and we will be monitoring radars this afternoon and evening as the front nears. Tornado risk is slightly elevated with a 2 percent risk being indicated.

WEATHER RADAR
As far as temperatures are concerned, we have to wait for warm front to push northward. How far north it gets remains to be seen but it should make it to a position near or slightly north of New York City. To the north of that front temperatures will be in the 70s while to the south we will see highs pushing upward into the low and mid 80s. Dew points will reach the mid and upper 60s so it will be uncomfortable today.
The rain will not be continuous and the main area of potential thunderstorms will be in the afternoon and evening. Tonight showers will shift to the east as the front moves offshore and by the early morning hours Tuesday we will see the rain begin to end from west to east. Tuesday brings improving weather conditions with clouds giving way to some sun and high temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
Humidity levels will be slow to drop off Tuesday until the front gets far enough offshore and the northwest wind picks up a bit. Wednesday will be the more comfortable day and probably the best weather day of the week with sunshine and highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Thursday humidity will start to creep up as do the temperatures. Another weather front approaches with showers and thunderstorm risks for Thursday night into Friday. It looks as if we will have shower and thunderstorm chances at some point over the weekend.
