Rain Later Tonight Into Wednesday Morning Much Cooler Through Friday Watching Coastal Storm For The Weekend
We are finally going to see some rain tonight and there might even be a thunderstorm or two in the mix. We have seen very little rain here since late August and this by no means will make up the difference. The hope is that we wind up between three quarters of an inch to an inch of rain however lately we have seen these weather front underperform so it would not be a shock if that happens once again.
Ahead of this cold front today we are going to have our 4th day in a row of highs reaching the 80s and skies should be no worse than partly sunny for most of the day. Some clouds however will start to arrive later in the afternoon and evening ahead of the cold front but I don’t think we see rain during the dayside. Temperatures might be a few degrees cooler along south and east facing shorelines and I would not be surprised to see a few record highs being set.

WEATHER RADAR
Rain and some thunderstorms will move through tonight and by Wednesday morning daybreak, inland areas could be mostly done while the immediate coast could see rain lasting for a few extra hours. The north wind takes over and we will see decreasing clouds during Wednesday afternoon. Most highs will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s but I suspect we will see those highs early on and then temperatures settle in the 60s during the afternoon.
Wednesday night is going to be rather chilly under clear skies and a northerly wind. Lows Thursday morning will be in the 40s in most places with some of the colder inland spots north of Interstate 84 dropping into the 30s. Thursday will be a chilly fall day with sunshine but high temperatures for most places will just make it back to the lower 60s and a few colder spots inland may not get out of the 50s.
Thursday night into Friday morning may very well be the coldest night of this stretch and it may be cold enough for first frosts to occur mainly north of Interstate 84. Friday should be sunny and perhaps a touch warmer. However temperatures will still struggle back to the low and middle 60s for high temperatures.
Attention shifts over the weekend to the Southeast US coast. Lower than normal pressures will be in place and low pressure develops off the east coast of Florida, moves northward, and intensifies some. Overnight weather models continue to show diverse solutions ranging from lows moving northward up the coast and spreading noreaster conditions as far north as Southern New England, to the low getting trapped off the Carolina coast and even acquiring tropical characteristics before moving inland over the Southeast US. The forecast is clouded also by a possibly hurricane well to the east that likely will indirectly affect any development near the coast. Right now we are going to indicate a dry Saturday followed by clouds rain and wind moving up the coast Sunday and Monday, Columbus Day. We expect to see more model adjustments in the coming days so the forecast outlook is wide open for changes.
