Quick Shot of Dry Cooler Air Ahead of Another Heatwave
& Near Record Highs Late Week

Lately the pattern has been for a couple of days of reasonable temperatures followed by a couple of days of hot temperatures above 90 degrees and the humidity which is well contained. Not any more folks as we head for some steamy conditions later this week and into next weekend. First off we do have today where a dry air mass is covering much of the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. Skies will be mostly sunny. We do have some leftover clouds from an overnight upper air disturbance moving southeast through New Jersey and Delaware but that will be gone before too long. Most highs today will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Tonight will be a nice night of mainly clear skies and most lows will be in the mid to upper 50s. Tuesday we will see dew points mainly in the 40s which is really impressive, along with a day where skies will be mostly sunny for most of the day. High temperatures will reach the low and middle 90s. However say goodbye to the low humidity regime for quite a while as we have hot humid air on the way ahead of a warm front.

In the process of transitioning over from a very dry air mass to a very warm and humid air mass, we could see a few downpours or a thunderstorm late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning and then a risk for some thunderstorms late in the day Wednesday with some sun in between. Dew points will rise from the 40s Tuesday to the upper 60s to near 70 Wednesday and that is uncomfortable for sure.

Wednesday highs will be in the mid to upper 80s though it will be a little cooler along shore areas. Then we move to Thursday and Friday where temperatures will take off and highs both days will reach the mid to upper 90s. There is the chance we could see some low hanging fruit record highs being set in some places. Also there are going to be thunderstorm risks both late Thursday and Late Friday. The late Friday thunderstorm risk I think could come with risks for some severe thunderstorms being in the mix and we will be looking at that possibility closely in the next few days. Also, expect highs in the mid to upper 90s to continue Saturday and Sunday with late day scattered storm risks.
