Coolest Weather Of The Autumn Season So Far Into Wednesday Morning
October is known for some of the most beautiful weather conditions of the year in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. It has the largest number of days with clear skies. Average temperatures slide 1 degree every 3 days. It is also a dry month. We certainly see a dry weather pattern all week long and the first half of the work week, we will have an Autumn chill in the air. Clouds continue to sink southward as an upper trough swings across New York State and New England. This is the leading edge of cooler air and we will see a mostly sunny day overall. Temperatures this afternoon will top out mostly in the middle to upper 60s. An odd warm spot or two could hit 70 degrees.

WEATHER RADAR
We have a chilly night ahead of us. High pressure over the Great Lakes will be slowly building eastward and northwest winds will overwhelm the area with the coldest air we have seen since back in mid spring. It will be a little breezy at times overnight and Tuesday morning lows will be in the 40s. North in the Hudson Valley and northwest of Interstate 84 the first 30s of the season will show up Tuesday morning.
Tuesday we will see sunshine with a northwest breeze. It will be coolest daytime we have seen since May. High temperatures will be mostly in the upper 50s and lower 60s and that sets up for a very chilly Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Clear skies and light winds will take temperatures down into the 40s but there will be more widespread 30s inland and I would not be surprised to see a few cold spots experience a frost.
Wednesday dayside will be sunny and temperatures will bounce higher in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid to upper 60s. The coolest air will be moving out but we do not see a big warm up coming for the end of the week. Thursday and Friday will be dry with sunshine both days. Highs should reach into the 70s. There is no rain in the forecast all week, and a case can be made that we may be dry and nice right through the Columbus Day holiday weekend.
