Heatwave Into Saturday 100 Degree Highs Possible Wednesday
Today begins a string of 90 degree plus highs. We can thank a powerful heat ridge in the Northern Plains that is nosing into the Great Lakes. We are on the edge of this ridge so we will participate in the heat across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. We are looking at a day of sunshine and temperatures this afternoon will reach the lower and even a few middle 90s. The highest temperatures will be in Southern New Jersey and points southward. Thunderstorms, some severe, are likely across Northern New York and Northern New England but we will be thunderstorm free.

WEATHER RADAR
Humidity levels will be going up Tuesday and they will be on the high side Wednesday as dew points brak above 70. Skies will be clear Tuesday night and Wednesday morning lows will be in the middle to upper 70s. That sets us up for a very hot day Wednesday with sunshine taking highs to between 95 and 100 degrees with 100 degree readings likely in South Jersey and Southern Pennsylvania southward.
A cold front will pass through though really it isn’t much of a cold front since the temperatures behind the front won’t be that much cooler than the air ahead of it but we will see a significant drop in the humidity beginning Thursday. It will be hot Thursday but we can call it a dry heat. It will again be a sunny day with most highs in the 90s though the lower humidity especially from New York City north and east will make it much easier to bear.
Humidity levels will be even lower Friday with sunshine. Temperatures will also be a little lower with highs in a range of 90 to 95 from north to south. 90 degree highs will continue Saturday but the deflating upper ridge and a stronger northwest flow will start to allow some weather systems to move along in the flow. We could see some thunderstorm chances on both weekend days. Temperatures should be back to the 80s for Sunday.
