Flood Watches Continue Across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England
Flood watches continue today across all of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England including New York City, Long Island, and the Hudson Valley. Heavy rain has fallen overnight in some areas and we have an active radar to start the day. You can expect to see more rain develop this morning lasting into late this afternoon and evening. Some areas will see heavy rainfall and totals. Including last night’s rain we should see 2 to 3 inches area wide with higher amounts locally thanks to the convective nature of this weather system.
The satellite loops shows lots of clouds moving west to east. We have a very slow moving upper trough and a stalled out frontal boundary driving our weather today. Clouds, rain, and an east wind will keep temperatures today mostly in the 70s and of course the rainfall means humidity levels will be very high. It won’t rain every waking minute of the day; there will be dry periods at times. As far as convection is concerned we have general thunderstorm risk but we do not have severe storm risk for today.

WEATHER RADAR
A stalled frontal boundary and an upper trough will finally start to move eastward tonight and Tuesday and that will shift the showery rains and heavy downpours offshore though there will be some lingering downpours overnight as well as during the day Tuesday. It will be come more scattered in nature so that will be a plus to some degree and the flood risk will diminish.
We will have clouds around Tuesday and winds will go from east to more northeast and north. This and the showers around will hold temperatures down with most highs in the mid 70s to around 80 degrees. Some genuine improvement settles in for Wednesday and Thursday with some sunshine both days, highs back into the 80s, and probably a low chance for a shower or storm Wednesday though chances start to rise again late in the week as another upper trough and cold front approach. At least there is no extreme heat in the forecast anytime soon so that is good news unless of course you like 100 degree plus heat.
