Extreme Heat Over Flash Flood Watches Up For Heavy Rain Tonight Into Tuesday

The extreme heat has come to an end and last evening’s thunderstorms certainly did the trick. Now we have a cold front approaching and this is an important weather front. First off though for today we will have sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. High temperatures this afternoon will generally reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees except for South Jersey and Southern Pennsylvania southward where highs will reach the lower 90s.

The less daytime heating today will probably mean severe thunderstorms developing though they might be a little less widespread than yesterday. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating a slight risk for severe thunderstorms covering most of New Jersey, Eastern to South Central Pennsylvania southward into Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. A marginal risk reaches up to Northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley, Southwest Connecticut and Long Island.
