Another Nice Weather Day, Showers Wednesday, Dry Thursday & Friday

It is another day of sunshine for Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England as we are sandwiched between a storm offshore and a cold front to the northwest in the Great Lakes. We don’t see any real issues today other than perhaps some passing high clouds coming in from the west. The clouds offshore will stay offshore as that low heads northeast. This leaves us in a day of mainly sunny skies and temperatures that will come well off their frosty morning lows and top out in the 60s just about everywhere. Radars are nice and quiet and you can expect them to remain that way.

We are going to see some clouds increase from west to east tonight and Wednesday will be a day where a cold front sets off some scattered showers and possibly a rumble or two of thunder. However it is quite possible that many might not see much of anything at all with this front. Otherwise look for changeable sky conditions and temperatures Wednesday that will be in the 60s.

Wednesday night into Thursday we will see a shot of colder air moving into the Northeast but it will be brief as high pressure slides quickly southeast from Canada and then offshore. Meanwhile in the Plains we will have a developing storm and the risk for severe weather breaking out across the Plains Thursday night and in the Mississippi River Valley Friday and Friday night.

The weekend is one where we have some questions since low pressure (the first of 2) heads from the Plains to the Great Lakes and that sets up a warm front to our south. This opens the door for clouds and the risk for showers during Saturday, though it doesn’t look like much rain wise. We also have lingering shower risks Sunday depending on where that warm front sets up.

Backing up the Thursday we will have gusty northwest winds and some sunshine mixed with a few clouds. Most highs Thursday will be in the 50s. After a chilly night, Friday should see a bit of a rebound with sunshine for much of the day. High Temperatures Friday will be back into the 60s except for areas near the ocean with south and east facing shorelines.

We will figure out the weekend in the next day or two but at least we do not have major storms or major rounds of severe weather to deal with over the next week. Rainfall amounts will be minimal in most places over the next 7 days and we are talking less than a tenth of an inch for the most part.
