A Break From The Rain Today But

More Showery Rains & Downpours Over The Weekend

We certainly need a recovery day after yesterday0’s fierce weather that included confirmed tornadoes over Long Island and New Jersey as well as flash flooding. Low pressure and a frontal boundary is offshore this morning and moving away so we should see improving weather conditions developing as well as a slight break from the humidity. We are looking at partly sunny conditions developing as the day wears on. Temperatures today will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s with a nice northeast wind. More importantly, other than some leftover rain over Eastern Long Island and points east, it will be a nice dry day. Clouds will be around tonight with most lows in the 60s to around 70.

WEATHER RADAR

Humidity levels actually will start nosing higher late today and overnight setting us up for a not so nice weekend. A southerly flow aloft ahead of an upper trough and cold front will bring tropical moisture northward Saturday. We will see showery rains and some downpours including the risk of a thunderstorm or two. Any rain will be of the on and off variety so there will be dry periods. Some of you may escape most of it.

There is the risk for some localized flash flooding especially from New Jersey southward to Maryland where the chance for rain is higher. Otherwise it will be a warm and humid Saturday and high temperatures will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Showery rains likely diminish or disappear altogether during Saturday night however Sunday we have the upper trough and cold front to concern ourselves with.

We will have some showers and thunderstorms running around at some points Sunday and the Storm Prediction Center is indicating a marginal risk for isolated severe thunderstorms across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Highs Sunday will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Improving weather conditions will settle in Monday but cold air aloft could mean some showers are possible. Humidity levels will be going down Monday and Tuesday.
