Weather Improves Today Scattered Showers Friday

Rain Saturday Hopefully Dry Mother’s Day

Overnight rains have moved away and weather conditions have improving this morning as sunshine is taking over. We do not expect any additional showers today and skies should be no worse than partly sunny. Slightly cooler air is moving in on northwest to west winds and high temperatures this afternoon will be mostly in the low to middle 60s. Most lows tonight will be in the 40s to around 50 degrees skies will be partly to mostly clear.

Friday we have a cold northwest flow of air in the upper atmosphere thanks to a deep upper trough in the Eastern US. Skies should start sunny but we expect some clouds to develop especially in areas inland. There could be one or two scattered showers that develop but we are not expecting anything widespread and many of you won’t see much. Friday highs will be in the low to mid 60s.

As far as the weekend goes, Sunday will be the better of the two weekend days. An upper trough and an area of lower pressure will be moving out of the Ohio Valley and heading for the coast of New Jersey and Southern New England. There will be rain from this system Saturday coming in right after daybreak and then ending in the mid to late afternoon from west to east.

Saturday temperatures will be in the 60s. Rain fall amounts will be in the range of another quarter to a half inch in most places. This leaves us with improving weather conditions Saturday night. Sunday which is Mother’s Day looks to be a nice sunny day with no rain. Temperatures will be warming up nicely and most highs will be in the middle to perhaps even a few upper 70s inland, 60s along the coast with a sea breeze.

Another nickel and dime weather system will be heading our way for Sunday night and Monday so expect to see clouds increasing and rain or showers developing later Sunday night and lasting through much of Monday. Low pressure develops on the front and heads offshore and that brings in cooler air for a day or so Tuesday into early Wednesday along with mostly dry conditions.
