Weekend Brings Rain Saturday But A Sunny Warm Mother’s Day
We are at the doorstep of the weekend and we do have some minor issues today a an upper air disturbance moves across New York State and New England. We will see sunshine giving way to some arriving clouds and we can see the approaching system on the satellite loop. The cloud signature is one of cold air instability. Inland areas could see a scattered shower or two pop up but for most of you it will be a dry day. Highs this afternoon will be in the low to middle 60s.

WEATHER RADAR
The overall weather pattern shows weather systems in the northwest flow moving through every couple of days. I’ve been referring to them as bascically “nickel and dime” type events which don’t produce much in the way of rain but after awhile it does add it. Rain from the first of these low pressure areas will approach for Saturday with rain arriving from west to east in the morning and ending from west to east in the afternoon.
This weather system produces a quarter to maybe a half inch of rain in some places. As for temperatures Saturday, highs will be in the 60s to around 70 degrees in most places. The system exits and then weather conditions improve nicely for Sunday, Mother’s Day. Another weather front is approaching Sunday evening but for now we will leave the risk for a shower or thunderstorm out of the forecast. Much of the day will be rain free and skies will be no worse than partly sunny. Highs will be in the 70s to around 80 degrees.
Sunday night into Monday with a stalled front overhead, a wave will develop on the front and we will get some rain and maybe a thunderstorm or two. Rain arrives overnight Sunday and lasts through at least part of Monday before moving east and offshore. Monday temperatures will be much cooler with highs probably not out of the 50s. Some sunshine returns Tuesday with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
