Warmer Temperatures Arriving Heat Thursday Through Saturday Ahead of Thunderstorms

We have a beautiful day across the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states today. In fact that beautiful weather extends west to the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, and south to the Southeastern US. Satellite loops show mainly clear skies and this is thanks to high pressure sitting directly overhead. The winds off the ocean are turning more south and that is going to allow temperatures to rise today into the 80s just about everywhere except right along the immediate coast where it will be about 10 degrees lower. Radars are nice and quiet and they will not be an issue right into the first part of Saturday.

WEATHER RADAR

Tonight will be nice and clear with lows in the mid 50s inland and lower 60s coast and warmer urban locations. Thursday begins what should be a 3 day string of 90 degree day highs. We will have plenty of sunshine as high pressure settles in the the Southeast US. Temperatures will reach the upper 80s to around 90 degrees or so for highs. Dew points will be in the comfortable 50s.

Dew points will remain in the 50s on Friday so while it will be hot with sunshine. Highs will reach into the 90s in most locations except for the immediate coast where local sea breezes will likely develop. Saturday will be the last hot day with highs in the low to middle 90s. It will turn more humid ahead of a cold front that will approach from the northwest late in the afternoon and evening.

Thunderstorms will likely develop late in the day and in the evening though most of them will be inland north and west of the coast at least initially. There is a risk that we could see some severe thunderstorms in the mix. The cold front is going to stall Sunday overhead making for a very warm and humid day with highs in the 80s. Showery rains and thunderstorms will be more likely and there is the risk for isolated severe weather developing. The front should push southward and allow for improving weather conditions Monday along with cooler temperatures.
