Warm & Humid Showers Thunderstorms & Some Severe Weather Risk Thursday

Another very warm and humid day for much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England that starts with some sunshine but likely finishes up with some showers and thunderstorms. Humidity levels are higher as dew points make a run for 70 or so. Temperatures will top out mostly in the low to mid 80s except a little cooler along coastal locations.

We have another upper trough that will be approaching later this afternoon and evening and ahead of that trough, showers and some thunderstorms will likely develop. The Storm Prediction Center is indicating that parts of the area, from Central New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania southward could be at risk for some severe thunderstorms in the mix. A slight risk or 15 percent risk is being indicated. Areas to the north are either at a marginal risk for isolated severe thunderstorms or just general non severe storm activity.

Once the thunderstorms end, we will have leftover clouds around overnight. Most lows will be in the upper 60s inland and low to mid 70s in warmer urban locations. Friday sets up to be very warm and humid with highs reaching the mid 80s to around 90 degrees and only a few degrees cooler at the beaches.

Another upper trough and cold front will approach late Friday afternoon and evening. Some shower and thunderstorm activity is possible as the front passes but we are not expecting severe weather risks at this time. This front will, as they all seem to do lately, slow down after it passes and that could delay improving weather conditions for Saturday.

There will be clouds around Saturday morning. Any showers should be south across Maryland & Virginia, possibly nosing up into Southern New Jersey and Southern Pennsylvania early Saturday afternoon. Once that plays out the front will resume sinking southward and allow for improvement to develop from north to south Saturday afternoon. Most highs Saturday will be in the lower 80s.

Sunday promises to be a better day with sunshine and lower humidity. Most highs Sunday will be in the low to middle 80s. Next week we see the heat ridge building in the Plains and then pushing eastward into the Great Lakes by Tuesday. We will be on the edge of the heat ridge for a couple of days and this will lead to very warm and humid conditions Monday with highs in the mid to upper 80s Monday and back into the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.
