Very Warm To Down Right Hot Conditions

This Week With Little Rain

The work week begins and the week ahead will probably have more of a June feel to it than mid April. Very warm air is surging northward up the Eastern Seaboard as a Bermuda high builds offshore. Low pressure is over the Great Lakes moving northeast and pulling a warm front northward. Other than some patchy clouds we expect to see no worse than partly sunny skies today across Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Temperatures today will reach the upper 70s to around or just over 80 degrees in spots. As always, local sea breezes will keep coastal locations 15 to 20 degrees cooler this afternoon.

WEATHER RADAR

As far as rain goes, the vast majority of the rain is occurring in Northern New England as well as on the Canada side of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Rainfall this week will be virtually non existent. Weak weather systems will move through early and late Wednesday and again Friday but the showers with these weak systems will be few and far between. It is more likely that most of you will go all week without any significant rain.

We may have to wait until next Sunday before any significant cold front brings a widespread chance for showers or even a thunderstorm. In the meantime I suppose we can call this an early season heatwave of sorts away from the ocean as temperatures will be running 20 or more degrees above average. Most lows tonight will be in the mid 50s to lower 60s!

Tuesday looks to be no worse than partly sunny and temperatures away from the ocean will rise to the middle and even a few upper 80s so I am going above much of the temperature guidance. That is usually a good bet this time of year to go higher rather than lower. Tuesday night we will have a weak weather system move through and there might be a scattered shower overnight into Wednesday morning. Most of you will see nothing.

Wednesday & Thursday will be downright hot for mid April at least if you are away from the ocean. We are looking at no worse than partly sunny skies both days. Highs both Wednesday and Thursday inland will be in the mid 80s to around 90 degrees. Coastal locations will be some 15 to 20 degrees lower. There is the chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm late Wednesday as another weak disturbance passes. Yet another weaks system comes Friday but the very warm temperatures continue into the weekend.
