Get Ready For Warmer Temps This Weekend

& Hot Temps Next Week

We have arrived at the doorstep of the weekend and we still have a strong upper air storm over New York and New Jersey. This is going to create an unstable atmosphere into this afternoon. Look for changeable sky conditions ranging from partly sunny to mostly cloudy. We will include the possibility of some scattered showers. Temperatures today will be in the 60s to around 70 degrees for the highs. The upper low is forecast to move eastward and offshore this afternoon and sky conditions should improve late today and skies will clear tonight. Most lows will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s Saturday morning.

The upper low moving east and northeast to Atlantic Canada allows for an upper ridge to build along the east coast along with a surface high off the Southeast US coast. Winds Saturday will turn to the west southwest and that will bring is a sunny day Saturday. Temperatures will warm to the upper 70s and lower 80s for highs though it will be a little cooler along the immediate coast with local sea breezes.

A weakening back door cold front will approach Saturday night into early Sunday morning. The front is going to weaken but we will include the small chance there could be a shower or two scattered around during the early morning hours Sunday. However this is not going to create any issues and Sunday should see mostly sunny skies. Temperatures have no place to go but up and highs will reach the mid to upper 80s in most inland locations with cooler temperatures along coastal areas of New Jersey and Long Island.

Moving on the next week, we will be in a ridge position along the East Coast into Wednesday. Monday we will have a south wind off the ocean so that will keep temperatures a little lower from New York City and Coastal New Jersey north and east where highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s, even cooler at the beaches. However inland the wind direction won’t matter much as highs will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s. Tuesday and Wednesday will be downright hot with sunshine and highs in the low to mid 90s. An inland shower or thunderstorm is possible late Tuesday. A cold front brings a higher chance for showers and thunderstorms late Wednesday. Have a great weekend!
