Clouds Arrive Ahead of Sunday Rain & Isaias Remnants Drying Out Columbus Day
Today is the best day of the holiday weekend which starts off with sunshine and finishes off with increasing clouds by evening. Satellite loops show high clouds in advance of what is left of Hurricane Isaias which is a large area of rain. It covers the Deep South and Southeast US today and advancing northward through the Mid Atlantic states this evening and tonight. Temperatures today will be mostly in the upper 60s and lower 70s. No rain is forecast to reach Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England until late tonight or early Sunday morning so it will be cloudy tonight with lows mainly in the 50s to near 60 degrees.

Isaias will not have a surviving “core” so the signature of the rain is really part of a non tropical frontal system. Low pressure forms in Northern Virginia Sunday and then heads to a position just south of Long Island by Monday morning. Rain will spread from south to north Sunday morning arriving in Southeast Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey around or just before daybreak and reaching New York City and points north by lunch time.
