Chance We Challenge The Freezing Mark Monday & Tuesday Carolina Storm Exits Well Offshore

A powerful storm is developing off the coast of the Carolinas today but this is of no concern to Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Satellite and radar loops show most of the clouds and snow heading straight east or slightly north of due east and other than some passing clouds today this is not going to be an issue. This morning we bottomed in the single digits in many areas and there were once again a few below zero lows including parts of the Hudson Valley and Long Island. Today should be no worse than partly sunny with highs reaching the upper teens and lower 20s.

About the only exciting thing we have to look forward to weather wise is the chance that we could challenge the freezing mark Monday and Tuesday for high temperatures but that is about it as far as warming is concerned. The long range pattern remains the same with colder than average temperatures forecast overall for the next couple of weeks and longer term, some of the super long range models suggest we could be colder than average temperature wise through the middle of March!

Tonight, single digits and lower teens will be the story once again with some below zero readings in cold spots Sunday morning. Sunday will be a breezy day with the storm offshore to the east but skies should be no worse than partly sunny. There might be some clouds closer to the coast from the ocean storm. High temperatures will reach the low and middle 20s.

The work week starts out dry and we could also see temperatures nudge up to the freezing mark for highs both Monday and Tuesday with no worse than partly sunny skies. That will feel much better with a break from the bitter cold. The next chance for any snow will possibly come Wednesday as a weak weather system moves east across the Lower Ohio Valley and then offshore to our south. For now the system does look to remain weak as it approaches the Mid Atlantic coast and not develop much.
