Rain Thunderstorms Late Today & Tonight Only Limited Improvement Monday
We are going to squeeze out dry weather conditions today for as long as we can before clouds roll in and then we deal with some rain and a few thunderstorms. We expect it to remain mostly dry into the afternoon with rain and thunderstorms coming in late afternoon and evening from west to east. While it is dry and we have some sun, temperatures should try to make it into the 80s before pulling back into the 70s once the rain arrives. Severe storm risks today lie further south in the Mid Atlantic states from Maryland and Virginia westward into the Ohio Valley.

Rain this evening and tonight will gradually taper off by daybreak with most lows in the 60s. A cold front passes offshore with a wave on the front to the east. This likely means that improvement Monday will be slow to occur. In fact we are likely to remain in clouds as well as some lingering showers running around. An upper trough could set off showers and perhaps a thunderstorm late in the day. Highs should nudge into the 80s.
We are looking at total rainfall amounts of generally a half to three quarters of an inch with the usual caveat that there could be double the amounts in some locales. Genuine improve settles in Tuesday with sunshine and clouds, very warm and somewhat humid conditions with highs in the 80s. More of the same is forecast Wednesday with a risk for a late shower or thunderstorm. A stronger front could set off some thunderstorms as it approaches late Thursday. Highs both days will be in the 80s.
