Winter Weather Advisory New Jersey NYC
Hudson Valley Long Island Connecticut
WINTER STORM WARNING EASTERN LONG ISLAND SOUTHEASTERN CONNECTICUT
Snow has begun across Northeastern Pennsylvania, Northern Areas of New Jersey and the Hudson Valley as colder air has worked southward. The bulk of this is going to fall between now and 1pm before everything moves away to the east. Road surfaces particularly main roads should be okay given the snow falling during the day so accumulations will be limited to colder grassy surfaces and perhaps some secondary roads where it snows hard enough as well as elevated areas. Winter Storm Warnings are posted for Eastern Long Island and Eastern Connecticut due to the fact that those areas will see a longer duration snowfall and temperatures may be a few degrees colder there.
Snow will move out this afternoon and very cold air follows tonight and through the weekend. It will be windy tonight with lows in teens and wind chills below zero. Highs both Saturday & Sunday not out of the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Weather models overnight continue to signal the idea of a major storm developing along the east coast early next week. All major weather models show this so now it is a matter working out track and how it evovles. The question of an offshore all snow track verses a coast hugger is the biggest issue to resolve. We will have more on this later today.

Radars this morning show an expanding area of precipitation across the area and most of it is snow. Look for the area to expand rather quickly along the coast this morning as low pressure develops just east of the New Jersey coast.
