Windy Colder Night Showers Saturday Windy Colder Sunday

Today’s cold front has moved through and weather conditions are slowly improving this afternoon but there are a few more scattered showers to get through as theymove from west to east. Then colder dry air will arrive on gusty northwest winds as skies clear out tonight and temperatures drop to the upper 20s to middle 30s. Dry air will be overhead on Friday making for a sunny but chilly day with highs in the upper 40s to around 50. We are in a fast moving pattern and on the upper left corner of the satellite loop you can see clouds moving into the Northern Rockies. This is the next cold front that will approach on Saturday with showers.

It appears that the bulk of the shower will hold off until late Saturday afternoon and the first part of Saturday night. Some might sneak in to parts of Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey in the early afternoon but the main area will come in the evening. The front is a fast mover so it should be offshore by Sunday morning. Then it will be windy and colder on Sunday with clouds and some sun along with the chance for a passing rain or snow shower. Temperatures will settle into the low and mid 40s.

Speaking of snow the lake effect snow machine will be turned on Sunday and the NAM shows mostly manageable amounts though some high amounts in local areas are possible. Lake effect snows will probably continue Sunday night into part of Monday. It is a sign of winter coming into the Northeast little by little, day by day.

Next week looks relatively calm through Thanksgiving day with the only issue is perhaps a shower Tuesday night with the next cold front. Tuesday’s highs should reach the 50s but Monday Wednesday and Thanksgiving highs will be in the 40s. No major storms are forecast except for the Northwestern US where heavy rains will be occuring later next week.
