Windy Afternoon Rain Late Tuesday
Some Sun Wednesday
Weekend Woes?
We have been experiencing some gusty winds this afternoon across the area particularly along the coast thanks to high pressure to the southwest of us and a storm in Eastern Canada. Combine that with a strong May sun heating up the atmosphere with cold air aloft and you have a very turbulent day wind wise. At least we have a fair amount of sunshine this afternoon and temperatures are trying to respond by heading into the 60s.

2PM TEMPERATURE AND WIND CONDITIONS
The bone dry humidity and the gusty winds are creating an elevated risk of fire going into this evening so be cautious if you are outside around dry fuels and any open flame.

GFS SURFACE MAP
Tuesday we will see arriving and thickening clouds. Weak low pressure will be moving to our south later Tuesday and Tuesday night with an area of light rain. I think the best chances of that rain will be from New York City and Long Island southward. I’m not sure how far north the rain will get and it could be limited to south coastal Connecticut and southern areas of the Hudson Valley. The rain should move out by Wednesday morning daybreak and then some sunshine will develop. Highs Tuesday will be in the low to mid 60s and Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid to upper 60s.
GFS MODEL SURFACE MAP SATURDAY NIGHT
Thursday and Friday look good but there are lots of questions developing now for the weekend. High pressure will be building to the north and low pressure to the south which sets up an onshore flow. Weather models are showing a definable shortwave energy at high levels. This could set up for some rain for part if not all of the weekend. We will address this further in a long range post later today.
In case you missed it this weekend, the Hurricane Season in the Pacific has begun. Here is the latest on that and a look at the El Nino (whats left of it) and the developing La Nina.
