Wind Advisory 40 mph Winds As We Dry Out Ahead of a Dry Weekend
Wind Advisories are posted for today into tonight. Low pressure in Northern New England is strengthening and the pressure gradient is going to be very tight over the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic. Winds will be gusting past 40 mph in many locations this afternoon into tonight. It will be one of those days where you are driving with two hands on the steering wheel when you drive over bridges.
Spokes of moisture are still rotating around the low center but we are not expecting any showers. Gradually skies should become partly sunny for this afternoon with patchy clouds around. Temperatures today will be mostly in the 50s but those strong gusty winds will definitely give you a bit of a chill. Radars are still showing areas of rain well north in Northern New York and Northern New England but rain is not an issue to the south.

Winds will remain strong and gusty until about midnight and then they will ease slightly but it will still be on the windy side for the remainder of the night and into Saturday, especially Saturday morning. Skies will clear tonight with lows in the upper 30s to mid 40s. Saturday will be a sunny breezy and cool day with high temperatures mostly in the 50s.
Winds will ease Saturday night Skies will be mostly clear. Most lows will be in the 30s inland and lower 40s along the coast and warmer urban areas. Sunday looks to be a partly sunny day with less wind. High temperatures Sunday will be mostly in the 50s. No rain is forecast for the entire weekend.
Weak high pressure will cover the Eastern US this weekend but it will eventually give way to the next weather system moving along in the northwest flow. There is also a southern system that will be along the Southeast US coast Monday. As long as the two systems remain separate we would be forecasting dry weather through the first half of next week.
The European model is attempting to phase the two systems together and that would result in low pressure developing off the Virginia coast and moving northward bringing clouds and rain later Monday into early Tuesday. This model run seems to be a bit of an outlier right now so we will go with a dry Monday and Tuesday with temperatures in the 50s at least for now and revisit this idea over the weekend to see if we need to go to a more rainy solution.
