Weekend Underway Nice Weather Today Sunday, Downpours Monday Tuesday

This is the third weekend in a row of nice weather with either minimal or no rain. In our case this weekend it is no rain. A nice strong high is building into upstate NY & New England. It is doing its job of keeping heavy rain across the south from moving up the East Coast. Breezes from the northeast and east will keep temperatures reasonable and seasonal both today and Sunday. Highs this afternoon will be in the mid 70s along the coast and lower 80s inland.

Nice Weather Friday Saturday Dry Air Holds On Sunday

The satellte picture this morning shows lots of dry air around and the cloud line has been pushed to the south. If you are headed for the beaches temperatures will be a few degrees cooler especially later in the afternoon. They should be in ranges in the mid 60s to around 70 much of the day. There are no weather issues on the radar as the rain is well to the south and will not be anywhere close to us until Monday.

Skies will be clear tonight with most lows in the 50s with lower 60s in the warmer urban centers and along the coast. Sunday looks good with sunshine most of the day but we will be watching clouds to the south and southeast as they will be trying to move northward. My thinking is that there is enough dry air to keep it sunny for most of the day. Highs will be in the 70s to near 80. Again at the shore temperatures will be in the mid 60s to near 70.

A more humid flow of air brings clouds back Sunday night with downpours running around during the day Monday but we are not forecasting a continuous rain by any means. Weather models seem to pushing the idea of that front swinging east with a better chance for downpours and possible thunderstorms Monday night and Tuesday until the front passes offshore. Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the 70s in most places.

The front moves to our south Tuesday night and stalls to our south. Wednesday should be dry but the next upper trough swings across the Great Lakes and generates a wave on the front. Another round of rain seems likely Wednesday night and Thursday. The good news is that this is the last trough before a ridge of high pressure builds in the east just in time for the Father’s Day Weekend! This could mean sunshine from Friday through Sunday with highs reaching into the 80s each day! That is the very early call for Father’s Day.
