Week Ahead Dry Today At Least Some Rain Each Day Into Saturday
It is NOT going to rain every minute of every day this week. In fact today we are starting off the work week with sunshine and there is no rain in the forecast for today so there is a plus. However after today we have two weather systems, a strong upper trough, an onshore flow, and possibly a severe weather risk to deal with later this week. But not today. Today we enjoy sunshine and temperatures that will top out in the mid to upper 50s in most places. A weak storm over the Great Lakes is moving east and falling apart as it does so. Other than perhaps some patchy clouds from time to time and from place to place, today is likely the best weather day of the week.

WEATHER RADAR
Attention Tuesday turns to a storm system coming out of the Southern Plains and heading to the Appalachians. That low will eventually pass offshore Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Clouds will increase and thicken up Tuesday with some light rain developing from south to north during Tuesday afternoon and then become a steady rain Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Tuesday’s highs will be in the 50s but once the rain starts temperatures will drop into the 40s with a raw wind off the ocean. Wednesday could see some minor improvement as the first low departs but another storm in the Plains will move east to the Great Lakes with an approaching cold front. Rain from the first system will be on the order of 3/4 of an inch to an inch in most places with the most east and south. Wednesday highs will be in the 50s.
Wednesday night into Thursday we will see showers develop with the approaching front. There may also be a few thunderstorms running around later Thursday into Thursday evening as the front passes. Highs will be in the mid 50s to lower 60s. A strong upper trough will move into the East and it will take another two days to get that system to move to the east. Friday and Saturday we will have a cold unstable air mass aloft leaving us in a mix of sun and clouds both days along with the chance for some scattered showers. It doesn’t rain all day however on both days. We will see highs into the 60s Friday and in the 50s to near 60 Saturday. Hopefully by Sunday we could see a dry day from start to finish. Next week looks to start warmer and rain free into midweek as a ridge builds along the East Coast. We should be in the 50s Sunday but then temperatures should rise nicely through the first half of next week and before any shower threat develops, probably not until Wednesday night or Thursday of next week.
