Week Ahead Brings Cold Fronts Cooler Than Average Weather Low Humidity

Much of the area managed to clear out overnight and it looks as if we should have another day of relatively low humidity and no worse than partly sunny skies. The next cold front is approaching and we don’t have juiced up dew points into the 70s, nor do we have super daytime heating going on.

At least as of overnight the Storm Prediction Center has severe weather risk indicated from the Pennsylvania/New Jersey state line westward. There appear to be issues with their website so we will just leave things as is regarding the chance for a shower or thunderstorm. If they happen for the majority of our area they will be widely scattered and probably occur later this evening. Much of today is fine so go about your business of having some fun outdoors. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s though it will be cooler at the shore.

Once tonight’s cold front goes by we set up for another one coming late Monday. This front is a little stronger as it has more upper air support from a short wave moving southeast from Eastern Canada. The Storm Prediction Center is a little more bullish on severe weather as it has the area of risk further to the east.

Monday will be a day of more clouds than sun and as that second front approaches we could see a shower or thunderstorm. Highs temperatures Monday will have quite the range from upper 60s to lower 70s from NYC north and east to lower 80s south and west of Philadelphia.

Tuesday through Friday looks relatively uneventful. High pressure to the west will very slowly build into the east and it will take all week for it to move across and out to the east. This will mean that much of the time Tuesday through Friday it will be partly to mostly sunny. Humidity levels will be very low especially Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s Tuesday and Friday and in the 70s Wednesday and Thursday.

Next weekend brings a very warm and more humid Saturday with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s but another cold front will move through with a late day shower or thunderstorm. Father’s Day is looking nice and dry at this stage of the game. Also we could be seeing a tropical depression or tropical storm developing in the Western Gulf of Mexico. We will address that issue separately later today.
