Weather Conditions Look Good This Afternoon
In case you missed it the map above is my snowfall forecast map which really hasn’t changed that much since the beginning. The tougher part of the forecast seems to be the areas with the lower amounts because we still can’t get a handle on how far north the snow actually gets. Also the change over a matter of miles will be large especially as you go south from very little to 6 inches to 12 inches. Blizzard Watch is in effect from New York City south and west to include all of New Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania.
As to the matter of the short range weather today it looks good with sunshine and chilly highs into the 30s. A freshening wind from the north will gradually bring down colder air and we should drop into the teens tonight under a clear sky.
Satellite loop shows the twist in the Middle Mississippi Valley with the approaching winter storm for the Middle Atlantic States.

Watch the radars slowly fill in later today and tonight. In the meantime no issues Friday with sunshine giving way to arriving clouds. Snow will not arrive until after midnight Friday night in Southern areas of Pennsylvania and New Jersey and they will not reach New York City and Long Island until Saturday morning..and Southern New England by Saturday afternoon.
