Weather Conditions Improve Overnight. Minor Issues Next 3 Days

Tonight’s severe weather has now weakened and moved away to the northeast. We are going to see weather conditions improve with a cold front moving offshore. The problem with this cold front is that it is moving at a snails pace and it will come to a grinding halt offshore. This front will likely linger around nearby over the next 3 days. This puts us close to clouds with humidity remaining stubbornly high. At least we will be seeing some temperature relief especially on Friday. We also think that we won’t have any kind of widespread showers or downpours to deal with since we don’t believe any kind of wave develops on the front.

REGIONAL RADAR

storm free

Weather conditions are slowly improving on the regional and local radars the thunderstorm shift offshore and to the east. There are still a lot of clouds with one or two lingering cells on the local radars but this should diminish and disappear in short order. Overnight temperatures will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s. At least the thunderstorms managed to cool things off from todays highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s.

LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA storm free

Looking ahead to Thursday it will still be very warm but a few degrees lower than today with clouds and some sun. Highs should be in the mid to upper 80s. In South Jersey and  Southeast Pennsylvania there is the risk for a downpour or a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening but I think elsewhere it should be rain free. Friday might see some drier air bleed southward into Northern New Jersey to NYC & Long Island northward bringing some humidity relief in these areas. Temperatures will range mostly between 80 and 85. It should be no worse than a mix of sun and clouds.

The stalled front still lingers on Saturday which means clouds and some sun with the risk for a downpour or a thunderstorm. Another cold front will be approaching early Sunday morning and that should finally bring some genuine improvement. Saturday’s highs will be in the 80s. If this next cold front moves along and I think it will, we should see some sunshine Sunday with humidity high to start the day but dropping later on. A real drop comes for Monday and Tuesday. Look for highs in the 80s on Sunday and in the low to mid 80s Monday and Tuesday.
