Weak Systems Marching Along Warm Up Thursday Chill Down Weekend

There really isn’t much change in weather conditions across the United States today. There are no major storms anywhere and the pattern is dominated by a west to east flow which is on the fast side. Weather disturbances seem to be passing to our north on an almost daily basis and the latest one is producing clouds today. The radar is showing light rain and snow showers overhead and we have temperatures in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Look for spotty light rain or snow showers for the rest of today and going into this evening. The area on the radar should begin to shrink as the disturbance weakens. Then we will have leftover clouds tonight with most lows in the upper 20s inland to mostly 30s elsewhere.

Wednesday we are going to start to see temperatures move a little higher as we watch and approaching warm front from the west. We might see some sun at times Wednesday before clouds move in. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s. Then we look for a few showers of rain Wednesday night as the warm front goes by. Precipitation won’t amount to much.

Thursday the warm front is to the east and we will be under a gusty west wind and we should see some sunshine. This should take take temperatures nicely higher into and in some cases through the 50s. Across Southern Pennsylvania, Southern New Jersey and points southward, I would not be at all surprised to see somebody go to 60 for a high.

A cold front is going to pass Thursday evening and we will turn windy and colder rather quickly Thursday night into Friday. We should see some sunshine Friday with highs in the 40s but a gusty wind will make it feel even colder. The fast flow pattern continues with another cold front arriving on Saturday leaving us with a cold but dry weekend.

Stronger low pressure comes out of the Plains and heads to the Great Lakes and Canada early next week which means clouds for us here Sunday and some rain or showers Sunday night and Monday. This goes so far to our north that I’m not seeing any major issues here. Even the amount of rain doesn’t appear to be anything meaningful. The fast pattern continues next week. More storm systems follow. The key down the road will be a flat enough system that fights a southeast ridge and a strong westerly flow across Southern Canada. It is a careful balance at best and this is an ideal pattern set up for snow lovers.
