Disturbance Moving Westward
We have already seen 1 tropical storm (Danielle) form out of a Caribbean basin disturbance and another one is emerging over the Yucatan Peninsula this evening. We have noticed that pressures throughout that area are rather low and actually are forecast to remain low in the coming weeks. Once the system moves into the Southwest Gulf of Mexico we see this disturbance moving westward and into Mexico again. There may be a limited amount of time for it to develop though conditions for strengthening are not exactly overly favorable. There will probably be a couple of more in the coming weeks that may emerge in this area. The big upper high to the north will keep things moving west until it moves out of the way later in the long range forecast period.

Elsewhere in the tropics conditions remain rather quiet for the time being. No development is expected elsewhere. The National Hurricane Center is giving the disturbance moving westward into the Southwest Gulf of Mexico a 20 percent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
