Warmup Next Week Remains On Track No Rain Into Thursday

While we are stuck in a cold air mass today and the weekend, the good news is that the warm up forecast for next week remains on track. There was nothing much new on the models going forward other than the next cold front that arrives late next Thursday could have a tough time moving through. More on that later. In the meantime it is cold today. Temperatures bottomed in the teens and lower 20s. Highs today will be in the low to mid 30s in most places with sunshine and some passing clouds.

We aren’t seeing much on the satellite picture in the Eastern US and the regional radars are quiet and will remain so through much of next week!

Tonight looks nice and clear with lows in the 20s with teens in cold spots. Saturday looks sunny with highs in the 30s and nighttime lows Sunday morning will be in the 20s. Sunday will be sunny with highs again just in the 30s. Low pressure passes across Florida Saturday and heads out to sea so that is not a worry here, not even close!

Next week everything is on course. Monday we will see some high clouds as a warm front approaches. Showers with that front will pass to our north. Highs will be  in the 40s to near 50. Any showers with the warm front will be few and far between and likely pass well to the north.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday temperatures continue to move higher thanks to high pressure along the Mid Atlantic coast and a west southwest to southwest flow. I think we could see some upside with these temperatures especially come Wednesday and Thursday.

Thursday should be the warmest day. We should see highs in the 60s in many areas. I would not be surprised to see a 70 degree reading pop up here and there.

Also it appears that the next cold front will be delayed as the ridge is so strong that it won’t allow the front to move through. Instead we may have to wait until the weekend for the front to move through and there are some questions as to how that happens and how much cold air is behind the front. All of that is too far into the long range to speculate about at this point.
