Warmer Temperatures Today & Friday
Much of the Weekend Will Be Dry Especially Mother’s Day
When we think back to that gloom and doom streak of 2 weeks ago, we are getting payback with the weather lately. Certainly yesterday was delightful and today will be another sunny day for much of the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states. Temperatures are on the climb and we will see highs reach the upper 70s to some lower 80s this afternoon. High pressure is moving off the coast to our south setting us up with a warm west to southwest wind. Local sea breezes will develop along south and east facing shorelines and temperatures in those areas will be about 10 degrees or so cooler.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
Radars are nice and quiet again today and they should remain so into Friday night. Skies will be clear tonight with lows Friday morning in the relatively warm 50s to around 60. This sets us up for a very warm Friday of sunshine. Highs will reach the low to middle 80s in most areas though again along the coast (south and east facing shorelines of New Jersey, Long Island and Southern New England) temperatures will be about 10 degrees or so cooler.
The dry weather pattern will likely continue right through the week and also through much if not all of next week. However there are two minor weather systems that will be moving through. The first will be late tonight and Saturday morning. It is a weak system and there will be a dwindling area of rain with this as a low moves southeast from the Great Lakes to off the coast Saturday morning.
Areas from Eastern Pennsylvania to New Jersey and points south will get brushed by some rain late Friday night into Saturday morning but the rain area cuts off around Northern NJ, NYC and Long Island on the GFS and is much further south on the other models. We are going to go with the weaker more southern solution here.. From there north other than clouds we will see decreasing clouds and increasing sun Satuday. To the south any rain should end during the morning and look for improving weather conditions Saturday afternoon across Southern PA, and Southern New Jersey.
Most high temperatures Saturday will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s. High pressure will be building southward from Eastern Canada Saturday night and Sunday. Northerly winds will bring down cooler air but it will also be dry air. Mother’s Day should feature lots of sunshine for most if not all of the day. High temperatures Sunday will be generally in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Another system will be moving southeast from the Great Lakes Sunday night into Monday but this too looks to be weak and most of the rain with this system will likely pass to the south across West Virginia and Virginia. Much if not all of next week looks to be dry and we could see at least some sunshine each day. Temperatures could run a little above average at the beginning of week and at the end of the week with a cool shot in the middle.
