Warmer Temperatures On The Way Through Wednesday
With Shower Chances As Well
Even though the core of the cold air mass is now offshore and winds have gone southwest, temperatures are just bouncing a little higher today. It didn’t help matter to have lows well down in the 20s in some places this morning. At least we continue to see mostly cloud free conditions this afternoon and we will finish the day with highs generally in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Temperatures at coastal locations will likely be about 10 degrees lower with the wind off the cold ocean. The good news for tonight is that it won’t be as cold with nothing more than a few clouds around. Most lows Monday morning will

A warm front will be developing to our south across the Mid Atlantic and it will start pushing northward. We will see some early sunshine though I expect to see more clouds developing Monday afternoon as the warm front nears. There might even be a few patchy areas of showers Monday evening though it is possible that they could hold off until later Monday night. Monday highs will reach the 60s in most places except of course along coastal locations.
There could be a few showers overnight Monday into Tuesday morning and hopefully they will be mostly done by daybreak or so. Then clouds will give way to some sunshine later in the day and temperatures have no where to go but up with the southwest flow. Highs Tuesday afternoon will be in the 70s in many locations away from the ocean.
Wednesday looks to be the warmest day of the week but forecasting highs will be a little tricky due to an approaching cold front. Some models suggest that the front will push through Wednesday midday and early afternoon which would produce some midday and afternoon showers, and likely hold temperatures down some. We tend to favor the idea of the front waiting until evening in which case any sun will send temperatures soaring to the mid 70s to lower 80s for highs way from the coast.
Once that front goes by we will see the front stall in the Mid Atlantic and setting up for a return northward while low pressure comes out of the Plains and heads for the Great Lakes Thursday and Friday. The trailing cold front will bring some rain or showers late Thursday and/or Friday before exiting. We also have another weather system taking shape for Easter Weekend so stay tuned for updated forecasts in the coming days.
