Warmer Temperatures Next Several Days No Rain Until Monday

Teddy Heading North to Nova Scotia

JOE & JOE WEATHER SHOW PODCAST MONDAY SEPTEMBER 21, 2020

Tonight will be the last night of chilly temperatures across the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states. High pressure over New England is about to make the shift southward into the Mid Atlantic and take its time moving out to the east. This begins a warm up on Tuesday. it will start slow but then it will pick up Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile there is tonight with frost advisories up again well inland. Temperatures by morning will bottom mostly in the upper 30s to mid 40s with the exception of the warmer urban settings where lows will be closer to 50. The satellite shows mostly clear skies. That swirl to the east is Hurricane Teddy which passed well east of Bermuda today and now takes aim at Eastern Nova Scotia & New Foundland later Tuesday into Wednesday.

Other than high surf and another round of coastal flooding Teddy is a non event here. The high moving south with Teddy to the northeast means winds will go from northeast to northwest on Tuesday helping the cause of higher temperatures as they reach the upper 60s to lower 70s.

Winds will gradually go more to the west and eventually to the west southwest as we head into Wednesday and Thursday and that should take temperatures up higher. We do see sunshine for both days and there should be little more than some passing clouds. Highs will reach the mid 70s to near 80 both Wednesday and Thursday.

Not much has changed in the outlook. Friday we will see some clouds around as a weak front settles in from our north with little fanfare. Highs will be in the 70s. The weekend should not be problematic even though we still have the same high to the east making it something of a “dirty” high at this point. Clouds and some sun for Saturday and Sunday should do it with highs in the 70s.

A break in the dry pattern comes next week with a deep upper trough moving into the Eastern US. This will produce some widespread showers next Monday followed by a rather cool air mass later next week. Another front will pass late Tuesday ushering in that cool air. We will have more on this tomorrow.
