Warmer More Humid Air Arriving Tropical Depression 6 Remains Poorly Organized

For the first time in 5 days we are not experiencing sunshine and low humidity. Instead we are seeing the arrival of warmer and more humid air. It is translating aloft first and that’s why we have lots of clouds around this evening. Temperatures have gone nowhere today holding in the low to mid 70s for the most part and they won’t be going far tonight as they settle mostly in the 60s with a few 50s in the coolest spots. On the satellite picture below you can also see Tropical Depression 6 on the lower right. The low level circulation remains exposed to the north and west of all those thunderstorms out there so it remains poorly organized.

As of 5pm there is little change in the status of Tropical Depression 6. It is about 300 miles east southeast of Cape Hatteras North Carolina and drifting northwestward. There is only a short window of opportunity for this to strengthen in the next 36 hours or so before it gets carried away to the northeast. There is no impact to the coastline from Virginia to Southern New England other than rip current issues over the next 2 days in case you are beach bound.

REGIONAL RADAR

Regional and local radars are picking up on a few spots showers that have developed in advance of the warmer more humid air that is arriving. If you get a shower it will not last long and it won’t amount to much of anything.

Wednesday will be the one warm humid day this week with a southwest flow ahead of a cold front. Look for clouds and some sun Wednesday into the afternoon as temperatures head into the 80s except 70s near the shore. Then look for showers and few thunderstorms running around later Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. I don’t believe this is a severe weather situation.

Warmer More Humid Air Headed East Chance Thunderstorms Wednesday

The next high builds in from the southwest. This air mass is warm but it is also relatively dry so we will see sunshine Thursday and Friday with low humidity and highs in the low to mid 80s. At this point Tropical Depression 6 will be moving along to the northeast but it will be close enough to produce some rip current issues along the shore so bear that in mind if you are beach bound.

Nova Scotia Storm Brings Dry Air Southward Into Early Tuesday

Another cold front move through Friday night with the next high coming in for Saturday. It will a beautiful start to the Labor Day holiday weekend with lots of sunshine and highs just in the 70s with very low humidity.

This next high goes out to the northeast like the one last weekend however the big difference is that it is not going to build back westward which means an onshore flow takes over that might bring cloud issues for Sunday and for Monday. Also we have a weak upper air disturbance coming in from the west and that could set us up for a few passing showers late Sunday into early Monday. Sunday’s highs will be just in the low to mid 70s. After that Labor Day will be warmer and more humid with clouds and some sun and another late day shower or two with highs into the 80s.
