Warmer Air Showers Late Week Snow Threats
Warmer Air Showers Late Week Snow Threats
The core of this cold air mass that brought the coldest temperatures in a month is moving out to the east. To the west on the surface map temperatures are already rising into the 40s and 50s across the Midwest and Ohio Valley and that air is poised to move eastward. Also moving east on the satellite loop below are clouds and as low pressure develops and moves through the Northern Great Lakes we will eventually see clouds moving in and some showers will come into the mix on Tuesday and Tuesday night.

REGIONAL RADAR
Radars are quiet tonight and will remain so through Monday night. Tonight’s lows will be higher than the last 2 nights as temperatures hold in the 20s to near 30 though some colder inland spots could sneak into the teens if winds drop off to calm. Then on Monday we will have sunshine and arriving clouds with highs in the 40s. Tuesday looks cloudy with some showers especially later in the afternoon into Tuesday night with highs in the 50s.

For the second half of the week we will see cold high pressure build across the Great Lakes and Northeast which is going to set up a frontal zone to our south. Weather models show 2 low pressure areas headed our way. The first Thursday night will pass very close to us and there will be some snow just north of the surface low track. Right now that appears to be north of the coast. A developing block in the Atlantic could cause this system to move a little further south then currently modeled however it also could wind up being weaker than modeled as well.

The second is a stronger wave coming out of the Central Plains that heads toward West Virginia and redevelops off the Maryland coast. This too will have snow along and just north of the low track. However again a stronger block would mean a flatter weaker system further south. Obviously we can’t provide answers at the moment in terms of specifics but we will continue to watch this. The second system will have more moisture to play with.
