Warm Week Ahead Above Normal Temperatures Record Highs Possible
This is going to be a week of warmer than normal temperatures and the chance we could see record highs Wednesday and Thursday. Even Friday we could see some records challenged. The satellite shows a storm offshore that is moving away to the east. The rain with this is well offshore and we can move ahead to a day of increasing sunshine and highs that will be in the 50s. There is absolutely no cold air behind this storm and in fact there is hardly any “real” cold air anywhere in the Eastern two thirds of the US. Tonight as skies clear, lows will be mostly in the 30s to around 40 in warmer urban areas.
SATELLITE
WEATHER RADAR
Tuesday will be a nice day of sunshine and no weather issues. High pressure will be settling in along the coast and temperatures will be topping out again in the 50s. Remember that this time of year we should be seeing highs around 40 or lower 40s. That means we will be 10 or more degrees above normal.
Warmer air will be heading east and that could produce a few clouds Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning but that should give way to a sunny day. West winds and enough sunshine will certainly take temperatures into the 60s just above everywhere except for south facing shorelines. Highs could reach 65 to near 70 if we get enough sun and that would be good enough for record highs.
This is the time of year where weathers under certain conditions don’t warm things up fast enough or high enough so that is why I am adding a little upside here to the forecast temperatures. Thursday sees the next warm front cold front combination and it looks to be a little more robust as it moves through so look for clouds and an increasing wind with showers developing. Highs will be in the 60s. Again we could see some record highs being set.
We will probably see some showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two when this cold front passes through sometime on Friday. The front to me is a little fast on the GFS model and I would expect it to move in later in the day. Showers in the morning will end by midday and then we will have leftover clouds, a gusty wind and temperatures that will top in the 60s early and then ease lower in the afternoon. A quick shot of cold air Friday night into Saturday morning doesn’t last. The weekend looks nice and dry for both days. Saturday highs will be just in the lower 40s but Sunday we will be back in the 50s.
