Warm Humid Sunday August Dog Days Continue Week Ahead

The character of the days change during August. Nights are getting longer. Ocean water temperatures are reaching their peaks. That creates a rather uniform temperature profile from the land to the sea. This helps to allow morning low clouds to develop during the night time early morning hours and then they quickly (usually) burn off the sunshine. Such is the case today and for the next few days. We do have sunshine. The wind is a little less onshore-ish today and the sun appeared earlier than it did yesterday. This will send highs up into the middle 80s in most areas this afternoon with temps slightly lower near the coast. Other than a scattered shower or thunderstorm, we expect the day to be rain free for most if not everyone.

We don’t see much going on today on either the satellite or the radar so tonight should be a warm  and humid night with patchy low clouds developing.  Most lows will be in the upper 60s and lower 70s except closer to 75 in the warm urban settings.

Monday will be very warm to hot and humid with highs reaching the upper 80s to lower 90s and Tuesday will be hot with highs 90 to 95. Both days will feature morning clouds that quickly give way to sun and the outside chance for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. You know the drill at this point.

Not much changes for Wednesday which will be hot and humid and maybe a scattered shower or thunderstorm with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s. We do have a cold front approaching on Thursday with perhaps a better chance for showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the 80s to near 90. Fronts have been known to hang around this summer and this one may also hang around with a weak high to the north. We will look for the chance for some showers running around for Friday and hopefully things will move out for next weekend though there is no guarantee.
