Warm Humid August Dog Days Through The Weekend

Warm Humid August Dog Days Through The Weekend

It looks like we are entering that annual stretch of weather where it is warm or very warm, humidity levels are on the high side, and there is the chance of the odd scattered downpour or a thunderstorm. Nights are warm and humid with clouds and sometimes some patchy fog develops especially along coastal areas. Such are the August dog days where the wind hardly moves and the air just sits there light a gigantic weight. The one upside over the next 3 days as that the daytime temperatures will be held back a bit with most highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and nights will be in the mid 60s to low 70s. This carries through the next 3 days.

REGIONAL RADAR

We can see there are clouds around on the satellite picture along with some breaks in the cloud cover. We are on the other side of the frontal boundary this morning with the front just offshore. The radar is showing some scattered downpours and one or two thunderstorms in the mix but they are widely scattered and moving northeastward.

The best chance for pop ups would be in the afternoon and evening. Much of the time for most of you it will be rain free. It makes my job simple with no big changes in the weather maps and no cold fronts coming through the weekend.

A Cloudy Rainy Afternoon & Evening, Severe Weather Threat Reduced Further

Looking ahead to the weekend we will put a little distance between us and the frontal boundary offshore and this should allow perhaps a bit more sunshine and a bit less in the cloud cover. This also means temperatures will be rising. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s both Saturday and Sunday with nighttime lows in the upper 60s to mid 70s. We will watch for some scattered pop up showers or thunderstorms but again for much of the time it is rain free. The next front arrives on Monday but it looks rather week and other than perhaps enhancing the chance for a shower or a thunderstorm it doesn’t really do much with providing humidity relief. We might have to wait until later next week to get some humidity relief.
