Very Warm Into Friday Showers Thunderstorms Late Friday & Again Saturday

The week is moving along rather nicely and we are going to see temperatures continue to rise. There are some air quality issues. Environment agencies in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have issued Air Quality Alerts. “An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. Sensitive individuals, including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous activities during the afternoon and early evening hours. Sunny skies, hot temperatures, and light winds out of the southwest will create a favorable environment for ozone levels to rise into the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) category along the I-95 corridor.” Temperatures today will reach the middle to some upper 80s though dew points still remain reasonable so humidity levels aren’t out of hand.

WEATHER RADAR

We still have some smokey skies thanks to wild fire smoke from Canada but this has been diminishing some over the past day or so and should continue to do so going forward. Most lows tonight will be in the low to mid 60s under clear skies. Thursday will be sunny and very warm. It will also turn a little more humid. Severe weather risk and general thunderstorms are possible in New York state well north of Interstate 84 and in New England mostly along and north of Interstate 90.

We are leaving thunderstorms out of the forecast for Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England. Thursday highs will be in the mid to upper 80s and some warm spots could touch 90. Moving along to Friday we will see a weather front approaching from the west and low pressure that will for along the coast of South and North Carolina.

The North Carolina low will act as a barrier slowing the front to the west down as it nears the coast. This is going to lead to very warm and humid conditions Friday though temperatures may be a few degrees lower than Thursday. Humidity will be higher and we will throw in the chance for a shower or thunderstorm late in the afternoon and evening. Friday highs will be in the low to middle 80s.

Friday night into Saturday it will be about the slow moving front trying to pass. There will be opportunities for showers and thunderstorms during Friday night and Saturday but it will not rain all the time. Some areas actually may get very little and in between it could very well be cloudy to partly sunny with highs in the 80s. Sunday should be a better day with clouds and some sun with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s and for now we will leave any rain out of the forecast for Sunday.
