Very Warm Humid Isolated to Scattered Thunderstorms

Mostly Inland Through Sunday

The weekend is here and it is definitely the kind of weekend you might expect for the middle of July. We have very warm and humid conditions. What is keeping temperatures down somewhat today is the wind direction which is going to be from the south southeast off the ocean. That will keep temperatures from getting much above the mid to upper 80s inland. Along the coast and at the beaches, temperatures will be some 10 degrees lower. As far as thunderstorms go they will be few and far between today and only one or two isolated thunderstorms are possible and that would be well inland.

Nights continue to be warm and humid and some low clouds and fog might develop. Lows will be in the upper 60s to middle 70s. Once again we have a very warm and humid Sunday ahead of us. There is probably a slightly higher chance for some scattered thunderstorms to develop inland Sunday afternoon and evening with the highest risk from Western New Jersey and the Hudson Valley westward into Pennsylvania.

A stronger upper trough will likely move through Monday afternoon and evening and this trough could set off more widespread afternoon and evening thunderstorm activity. In the meantime we will have a mostly dry Sunday except for some inland scattered storms. Highs Sunday will be in the mid to upper 80s. Again a south wind will keep temperatures lower along south and east facing shorelines.

Monday with more of a southwest wind ahead of the upper trough we could see highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s away from the beaches. We might also consider the possibility that Monday could produce some isolated severe thunderstorms though at this time, the Storm Prediction Center is not indicating any risk. Tuesday and Wednesday probably see a break as far as storms go but it will remain very warm and humid for all of next week and possibly getting hotter toward the end of the week.
