Very Warm Humid Conditions Into The Weekend
Showers Thunderstorm Risk Each Day
Our brief break from humidity and downpours was just that, brief. The Bermuda high offshore is building westward and that is turning the upper flow to southerly. That is bringing up tropical moisture from an old frontal boundary that lies across the Middle Atlantic states. The results are much higher dew points rising toward and even above 70. Temperatures today will reach the low and middle 80s. Satellite and radar loops show some downpours and we look for those to develop in some areas this afternoon into this evening. They have already reached areas in Southern Pennsylvania and they are nosing into parts of South Jersey.

The way this is going to work for the next several days, probably through Saturday is that we will risks for downpours and thunderstorms each day. Some of the downpours will be heavy and there could be the risk for some localized flash flooding if one thunderstorm sits over a spot for a long period of time. On the other hand there will be long stretches where it won’t be doing much of anything at all.
Thursday we are going to throw in the possibility that there could be some isolated severe thunderstorms from Northern Virginia to Northwest New Jersey, the eastern half of Pennsylvania as well as parts of the Hudson Valley and the Catskills. Temperatures Thursday again will reach the middle to upper 80s.
Friday and Saturday we will see temperatures push the limits of upper 80s to some lower 90s under very humid conditions. Again we see the risk for downpours and storms. We may have to wait until Sunday or Monday to have another day where there is no downpour or thunderstorm risk. Very warm and humid conditions will last into early next week at the very least.
