A strong upper air storm is sitting over the Northeast this morning and we have already seen showers move out to the east. The satellite picture this morning shows the clouds almost like spokes on a bicycle wheel and those spokes will be rotating southeastward. While the first band of showers is done, another band could develop late today and this evening. In between look for clouds with some breaks of sunshine but it will be cold with highs just in the 50s.

The regional radar is showing showers moving out to the east however what is moving southward from the Great Lakes in upstate NY is actually snow shower activity and it is not impossible that some areas in the Catskills could see some snow shower activity later today and tonight.

Weather conditions will continue to be under the influence of this upper low through Monday so we will see clouds tonight with a few showers into Monday morning. Later Monday lots of leftover clouds are likely with highs in the 50s to near 60. Warmer air is destined to move east once the strong upper low pulls out to the east Monday night into Tuesday. Sunshine will develop on Tuesday and temperatures should rise into the 70s.

TUESDAY FORECAST HIGH TEMPERTURES

Very Chilly Sunday Monday Before Warmer Air Arrives

By Wednesday the warmer temperatures will be everywhere with 80s reaching up as far north as Central New England. Coastal areas will also see temperatures reach near 80 before any sea breeze develops. We should see a fair amount of sunshine and little chance for any rain through at least Wednesday.

WEDNESDAY FORECAST HIGH TEMPERTURES

Depending on the next weather front which will approach at the end of the week, we could see 80s again for sure on Thursday and possibly even on Friday before temperatures cool off next weekend.  Some showers could come into the mix late Thursday night and again late Friday but for now they don’t appear to be anything too serious. May is looking to arrive very warm so be sure to enjoy the warm weather while we have it.
