Tropical Storm Julia Off South Carolina Coast

Tropical Storm Julia Off South Carolina Coast

Tropical Storm Julia Off South Carolina Coast

Winds 40 MPH Drifting Northeastward

Tropical Storm Julia continues to drift along the Southeast US coast just barely offshore. The rain is mostly north and northeast of the center. The forecast track is going to keep Julia just offshore and it will probably loop around and move back westward toward the coast again at some point over the next few days. Steering currents here are very weak. Westerlies in the upper levels of the atmosphere are too far north to pick it up. Eventually as the upper ridge builds over the southeast it will push Julia inland somewhere in the southeast. While it is close to the coast heavy rains are likely to continue. Tropical Storm Warnings remain in effect for the offshore waters off the South Carolina coast.
