Thunderstorms Humidity Continues Through Wednesday

Another day of high humidity is winding down and we are seeing some thunderstorms breaking out this evening well ahead of a cold front to our west. Temperatures have not big the big issue as highs reached the upper 80s and lower 90s today which by early August standards is nothing extraordinary. The humidity however continues to be unrelenting and while might get a bit of a break from the humidity Thursday and Friday we want to emphasize that it is just that..a bit of a break. Before that there is tonight and Wednesday which means another tropical night and Wednesday will be much like Tuesday was which is very warm, very humid and the chance for thunderstorms.

Radars this evening are getting busy as we have thunderstorms moving across Pennsylvania and NY State and crossing into parts of New Jersey & the Hudson Valley. Some of the storms are strong but so far they seem to be a touch below severe intensities. The threat for downpours or thunderstorms will continue this evening before the storms start to weaken and die out after 9 or 10 pm.

Wednesday brings a cold front and the threat for late day and evening thunderstorms and there is a marginal risk for severe weather Wednesday evening. Temperatures will be in the mid 80s to near 90. Then we get a bit of a break for Thursday and Friday with very warm conditions but the humidity will drop a touch. Highs will be mostly in the mid to upper 80s.

For the third time in the last couple of weeks we have a trough setting up in the Eastern US and this is a return to a southerly flow, tropical moisture and the chance for downpours and thunderstorms starting Saturday and lasting through at least Tuesday of next week. It will not rain all the time so this is not going to be a washout. However it does mean that we will have very warm and humid tropical conditions to deal with again this weekend and in the long range.

We have all the latest on Hurricane Hector in the Central Pacific as it nears Hawaii on Wednesday.

Also we have information on Subtropical Storm Debby in the Atlantic which is no threat to any land areas.

Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
