Thunderstorms Continue This Evening
There are lots of thunderstorms running around on the radar this evening including a large area in Northern Pennsylvania that is straddling the New York State border. Over the New York New Jersey Southern New England area, thunderstorms are dying out and reforming and creating some flash flood problems along with Special Marine Warnings that are up for parts of Long Island Sound. Some strong thunderstorms are over Southern Connecticut as well.
These cells seem to be supported by an upper air disturbance that is moving across the northern Middle Atlantic States. There is very little if any activity going on in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania at the moment and my suspicion is this area will remain relatively quiet.
HRRR MODEL 2AM FRIDAY
The latest HRRR model seems to want to bring much of that Pennsylvania activity over New Jersey, New York City, Hudson Valley, Long Island & Connecticut overnight. If this is correct it will bring rains to areas that really need it like Suffolk County on Long Island which is under a severe drought condition at the moment. The HRRR model is very bullish on total rainfall out of this. Fingers crossed
