Temperatures Moderate But Colder Late Week

Some Uncertainty For The Weekend

The moderation in temperatures continues today and we have a warm front that is going by. An area of snow will pass to the north across Upstate New York & New England and that leaves us in clouds and some sunshine today. High temperatures this afternoon will generally go above freezing for everyone as highs reach the middle and perhaps even some upper 30s across South Jersey and points south. To the north of New York City as well as to the northeast, highs will reach the low to mid 30s due to more clouds being around.

WEATHER RADAR

Radar is picking up some echoes of snow across Pennsylvania. I suppose that if the southern extent of the echoes holds together, somebody gets to see a snow shower or two as it goes by. Then a cold front follows late tonight into early Wednesday morning and there could be a snow or rain shower with that this evening and tonight as temperatures hold steady or only fall slightly.

West winds will pick up Wednesday and we will have some sunshine. Since we are starting out with temperatures in the 30s we will probably nudge higher to the upper 30s and lower 40s. Then it turns colder Wednesday night and lows by Thursday morning will be mostly in the 20s. Thursday and Friday will be a cold days but not extreme. Average highs this time of year are near 40 and we will see highs in the low to mid 30s both for Thursday and Friday. Friday morning lows will be in the teens to near 20 degrees under clear skies.

As far as the weekend is concerned, low pressure is going to form in Texas and head east northeastward. At the moment we see no issue for Saturday and probably through most of Sunday. Models suggest the low will pass to the south though many offer all sorts of different options for Sunday night and Monday with some rain or snow depending on location. The trend this winter has been for these southern systems to be overdeveloped on models in the days ahead of this, and then passing offshore to the south and east. We are leaning in this direction as far as an outcome for this low. This will leave us with dry conditions or mostly dry conditions for Monday however our mind is still open to other possibilities.
